Rooster question

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. I have a cuckoo maran and I saw him yesterday mount a hen. He was sucessful. He isn't crowing yet! Is that normal? Also, I was wondering if the hen he mated with will lay now? I was told they would start laying in the fall. So they are about 17 weeks??

The hens will lay when they are ready- rooster or no rooster

Don't worry about him- he'll be doing that alot!

He'll crow when he has something to crow about.
Here try this: Get a rooster crowing ringtone on your cell phone. Play it where he can hear it, but not see it.
That usually sets my Thor off big time.
