Why does my rooster 19 week old EE attack us and the younger 13 week old hens? He got a hold of one of them and got on top of her and repeatedly pecked her in the head even as I was kicking him as hard as I could to get him off her?? I had to get the hose and spray him to get off of her. Will he kill them if I put them in the same coop?

Ummm, he has become sexually mature and is trying to breed even though the hens are too young. My EE roo did the same thing. He was always a bit rambunctious compared to the others so his name was Trouble. We had a Trouble casserole for dinner a few weeks ago.

The same thing happend to me and I posted the same question. Everyone said to be patient that he will learn to be gentler with the girls and sure enough he has and he is a Brown Leghorn.

Might want to think about something else to do with him. Mine has never tried to charge me, he just won't let me get near him or touch him. Think about the kids, they can hurt.

If my rooster starts to misbehave around me he is done.

Like any teenager, he's suffering from raging hormones. Give him a few weeks to see if he can pull it together before making any long term decisions.

I hope he does I love listning to him and I have raised him since he was so post to be a she at one week old, handled him dailyy from day one, I can still hold him if I can catch him but I get the stink eye.

If the Rooster is attacking your children I say make him dinner,it's not worth the risk of injuring your children. beside Rooster are always available. I never been able to correct the bad behavoir of a rooster that attacks, some people claim they have tamed their mean rooster .

Yeah, they get pretty crazy when they become sexually mature. Mine was like that, has become a bit gentler but not much. I have to watch him carefully around the hens. If they start going bald (lol) then I'm separating them although that'll be hard to do since I want chicks so badly;)

Thanks I have been concideing rehoming him I did the last one. I hate to though I have had him this long but I never wanted roos to begin with I just love watching him strut and crow.
