Not sure if this is the right place but if I put a different rooster over my hens, how long will it be before her eggs are fertilized by him? My Americana rooster is a big chicken and my RR rooster is taking care of the hens. I am going to put him in another pen so I can get some pure Americana chicks.

A hen can stay fertilized for up to 1 month after taking the roo out.. If there is not a roo with them already, then I agree a few days.. If there is already a roo and you are just switching them out, I would wait at least 4 weeks before trying to get the offspring you want..

Well I put my RR rooster in a different pen and threw in a couple pullets to keep him company. I hated to move him just because the coop is not as nice and the weather has been abnormally bad for this area. Normally lucky to get 1 snow that will stick long enough to play in and already this year we have had 3 for over a foot total. Hope its over.
