Hello to all! I have 10 Rhode Island Red's (possibly 1 is a Rooster, they are about 10 wks old) I have 1 Barred Rock hen, 2 Araucana hens, 2 White Leghorn pullets, and 3 Cinnamon Queen hens.
With this mix flock, any suggestions on what breed of Rooster I should have? I want to keep my flock color beautiful and I need a Roo that will protect very well since I live in predatorville.
But I don't want an aggressive bird. Should I wait until I find out if one of my RIR's is a Rooster before getting an adult Roo? If I get an adult Roo, how old do my baby RIR's have to be before it will be safe to turn them out on the run with him? Do I have too many hens for 1 Roo?
