Rooster questions

I have an existing flock of 15 ladies, three years old. I have a new group of 14 girls and 1 rooster. The newbies are 12 weeks old and they are all together and doing well. I do notice that the older ladies are not too welcoming of Rooster Cogburn. Just curious if this is pretty normal and will the older girls get to a place where they are more comfortable with him? Right now they have a coop where they sleep, a run where they go into in the mornings, and a large fenced in area where they all go out to free range. All go in at night except Rooster. He goes in a roosts in the run at night when the door closes.

Older chickens usually do bully younger birds.I used to have a rooster who would wait until all his ladies had gone in,”patrol” for a little,and then go to bed so I think that might be normal.

Perfectly normal.. he hasn't matured yet to take over the flock. Let them older girls teach him manners and how to treat them right.

Shortly, he will really change. Right now he is in the darling stage, curious and inquisitive, but not real confident. By 6 months, all those girls will be hanging on his every cluck.
