Rooster shed both spurs. Is this normal?

I think my rooster is about 2 years old. He is a Buff Orpington. I found both spurs on the ground and little red dangling things where they were. Is this indicative of anything such as health, age etc? I don't see anything about it in my search of the forum. I am sure he is not suffering--just wondered if this is usual/normal.
