Rooster spring crowing.

This is more of a general question but, do Roosters crow more in the spring? My boy has been really quiet all winter, only crowing about 1 to 0 times a day, but as of recent he has been crowing much more frequently, like 2 to 3 times a day. Is this because its spring and his testosterone has been heightened? Is there anything I can do to help him feel less perturbed?

I feel like it is more about the light in the coop/run. In the snowy days, our boy was quite quiet, but it was also very dark and gloomy out there with the coop itself being rather dark from the snow sitting on the "sun roof" that they have on the coop. With the winter days that didn't have snow around, he had a decent voice on him, same with the sunny spring days.

I'd do a quick review to make sure all of his needs are met (food, water, shelter, place to scratch/dustbath, hens to mate with and no other roosters starting a fight with him). Beyond that, it's just kinda in his nature to be loud.

Side note, sounds like you got lucky with a crowing of only 2 to 3 times a day. Our boy hits around 10 crows per set, and like 5-10 sets a day. Sometimes starting as early as 4AM!
