Over a week ago, we had to take off our rooster’s toe. It was severely infected, and started to travel up, started smelling and pretty sure gangrene was occurring. Anyway, he is on antibiotics, we clean the area every day, apply topical antibiotic and bandage it. Every time we change out the gauze and wrap it starts bleeding. It’s not infected. I think we are knocking off where it starts scabbing and it bleeds again. Is there something we can do to help the process? There isn’t a vet near us that’ll do chickens. We are trying our best, but this is all new. Any help would be great! He is eating, drinking, crowing, just ready to get back with the hens… poor guy.
