Rooster was sitting on hens eggs

Guys inhave just seen the weirdest thing. My silkie hens been laying and has layed a total of 3 eggs tonight when i went out the rooster was on the eggs sitting and making a crowing noise i have never heard of a rooster doing this. Why is he doing this? I removed him from the eggs as another one of my silkie hen has now went into the nest herself was he trying to make them broody?

I’ve seen my cockerel go into the box before, he always rushes off when I open the coop door, I’ve seen a nonlaying pullet do it too.
