Rooster with meaty Bumble Foot

We prepared to remove the pus from a rooster's bumble foot but all we found was a stringy meaty center of the big tumor. We did use the recommended cleaning agent and did a coban wrap after we finished. The wound has healed on the outside but is growing larger. Any thing that we should do differently?
