I have a pet serama rooster, he's 7 months old. He's lived a really spoiled life as an indoor/outdoor rooster. He used to be my alarm clock every morning until his health started declining.

6 weeks ago, he started limping a little. I figured he may have sprained something so I was really careful to make sure he wasnt jumping off my bed or the couches. (Like I mentioned, he's indoor/outdoor). Fast forward, he didn't get better. He started dragging his leg.

I took him to the vet a week ago for x rays. The vet said his bones were thinner than normal, so he said he had osteoporosis in his legs and spine. The vet gave us some steroids for his leg and told us to switch him from flock raiser to layer for the added calcium. He hoped that would strengthen his bones over time. The vet also said that his leg was paralyzed for an unknown reason, but that it probably wasn't painful.

My poor baby lost the function to stand on his good leg now, and falls over backward. He can't stand. He is loosing his appetite too.

I don't know what's wrong. After reading about a possible vitamin deficiency, I started him on poultry cell vitamins 5 days ago - 1cc morning and night. No improvement.

I'm scheduling him to be put to sleep on Monday if I can't figure out what's going on. I don't want him to suffer. He doesn't even crow anymore. Any ideas as to what's going on, and why he lost the function of both legs? He can't balance, he has to be in his bed or in his wheelchair I made him. I just wish I could help this little dude, he's been my buddy since last July. Any ideas are appreciated. He's not sick other than his legs not working and his loss of "happiness".
