Hi everyone :). A friend from church has way too many roosters and offered me one, about a year and a half old. She said he’s a very pleasant fellow but he and his buddies are going to be stew shortly as she has no need for so many. One of her hens hatched eight Roos last year. I was contemplating taking him but my flock currently is only pullets…the oldest are two California whites that are around 15 weeks old; the others are about 10-12 weeks.

Would it be bad to put an adult rooster with younger girls? I wasn’t sure about the mixed sexual maturity part…

It all depends on the personality of the rooster. Most mature roosters tend to mate with mature/laying hens and ignore the pullets. Given that you have all pullets, he may or may not try to breed them. I'd give it a try but have a plan in mind in case he starts harassing the pullets before they are ready.
