My rooster Emmett has two very swollen toes. He is the primary flag protector so he is often in fights with small animals that he finds to threaten his ladies. He does not often let me get close to him so this is the first I’ve noticed it.
It seems to only be on two of his toes and they are very swollen. He also has a slight limp not using this foot to rest on. He’s about two years old and I don’t know what breed but he is a big boy. His ladies love him and I don’t want anything to happen to him. Please help.

Are you in the area of the country that is just getting over winter cold weather? To me, it appears that the two toes suffered some frostbite, and the toe tips and nails came off after the necrotic tissue fell away. In frostbitten toes and feet, there will be a swollen or bulbous appearance where the healthy tissue begins. As you can see in this picture, the black toe tips will fall off eventually leaving the rounded off healthy tissue.
