This is my first time raising hens and i ended up with a rhode island rooster and he has been trying to attack me and grabbing my hens by the back of the neck and the are screaming. What should I do because I really do not want to get rid of him because there has been hawks in the trees around the house and also because I have had since he was a peep. Such a hard decision to make...please help

Well hes trying to breed, first off. Over time the hens will figure out whats he's trying to do and it wont be such a traumatic experience for them. They just gotta get the hang of it.

Welcome to BYC! It's up to you, but I wouldn't keep a rooster that attacked me. There are a lot of roosters out there needing homes that aren't mean. Good luck to you.

! Happy to have you with us! I'm with liz9910 - no place on my farm for a rooster with a mean streak. Just my opinion. Good luck to you!

Welcome to BYC. I agree with Liz and redsoxs. His behavior is likely to get worse unless you give him an attitude adjustment. Do not allow any children near him. There is potential for serious injury from such a bird.
