To me the issue is not size but maturity. Bantams are often OK in a large fowl flock, some may even be the dominant chicken. Some people have problems when they try to mix bantams and full sized fowl but I'm not sure that's because of the different sizes. Some people have trouble when they try to mix full sized fowl with other full sized chickens or bantams with bantams.
