Help! My hen might be a rooster! Its a welsummer but i am wondering if its saddle feathers look like a rooster? Help! Its only 2 moths old. It also make a deep croaking noice almost like its crowing in the morning when i hold him! Thanks for you help!
The saddle feathers you are talking about are just the longer side tail feathers that most people confuse with saddle feathers. Hens will make many rooster-like sounds too, sometimes when laying an egg they will make loud "bauwk" noises or when sighting a hawk they will do their loud alarm call., there are many other circumstances as well.
