I agree. Roosters do not help aid production.No. Chickens will lay eggs if there is a rooster there or not.
What he will do is fertilise the eggs, so that if you want to hatch them into chicks, the eggs will be able to do that.
Roosters will also help to protect your girls, find them yummy treats (like bugs), sort out disputes between your girls, and take them all back to coop at dusk.
Plus, if you get a good one, they can be quite entertaining to watch.
