My poor baby has black stuff ALL OVER his comb and wattles, at first I thought it was dried blood from fighting but its gotten worse and we no longer have any more roosters :( Any idea what it is? I cant tell if its bothering him, on one hand he seems a little lethargic and when our hen squatted he didnt even TRY to breed (hes a cockeral so seems like he'd wanna) but on the other hand he still runs away and doesnt act in pain :( Please help

PS. Ill post pics if needed but it simply looks like dried blood, oh and i WILL dub him need be RIGHT now

Hi. I just recently discovered lice on my hen. She also had little spots of blood on her comb. I first thought the other hens did it to her but wonder now if it could have been the lice. You may want to check him over just to be safe. Think they came from wild birds in and out of coop.

How would i tell?

Hes the only one wouldnt the others have it?

I would check, just to be sure. This is my first time dealing with them so I am afraid I can't give you much info on them. I discovered them when I gave her a bath to remove some poop on her bottom. The lice started crawling up to her back. Very gross! I hope that is not what yours has. Put in a search.

He doesnt have it

Ive decided he injured comb so Ill just dub it
