Roosters living side by side.

We are building our chicken houses. They will be side by side with enclosed breezeway in between. The question I have is the hens and roosters will be able to see each other in their houses and in their yards but will not be able to be in contact with each other. Will the Roosters tolerate this and live peacefully side by side? Marans flock with Marans Rooster and Mixed flocked with Ameraucanas Rooster.

Why keep them separate? For breeding reasons?

I thought that if you have a bachelor pad they can live nicely together if they can't see any hens.

Sometimes if people have too many roosters and not enough hens, they put the roos together in a bachelor pad. No hens=no fighting.

I'm not sure if it'll work to have them right next to the bachelor pad-it may drive the roos nuts trying to get to the hens.

I have a main coop and a batchler coop that are side by side the runs butt up to each other no fighting from either side

Two flocks, each containing a rooster and some hens, with a wire fence between the flocks: probably fine.

If the roosters do spend time fighting through the fence, you could put a piece of plywood or even cardboard to block them from seeing each other. But I do not think this will be needed.

That depends on your birds. You can run a sight barrier along the bottom if you have issues.

Here is mine happy as can be boys on the right and boys girls ducks and bunnies on the left they don't fight through the fence the only thing they do is crowing war's in the am and evening

Yes they are separated for breeding purposes. Thank you all for your input. We want an enclosed area for both flocks so they can be out of weather when need to but most of the time they both will be in separate large pens free ranging. If need to will put up something to block their vision but hoping won’t have to.
