Thank you for your inquiry about the City of Concord’s rules on roosters. On July 8, 2014, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 14-6, which amends the 2012 Development Code amending Section 6.10.030 (General Conditions for Keeping Livestock, Companion Animals and Fowl).
The changes are summarized as follows with regard to roosters:
Ordinance 14-6 amends the Municipal Code by banning the acquisition of roosters (whether obtained from a third party or hatched from existing hens) effective August 7, 2014. Additionally, roosters will be completely banned within the City of Concord effective August 7, 2015.
