how many roosters do you need per 20 hens

Depends, jtr. If you don't want fertile eggs, you don't need any. If you are gonna hatch every egg layed, the rule of thumb is 10/1, so you need 2. If you just like to have a rooster around to control the hens somewhat and watch for flying predators, one will do. Now, if you just want a few fertile eggs from time to time, you can pen your one rooster with a few of your best hens until you get the number of eggs you need, then put them back with the flock. Just depends on what you wanna do.........Pop

Depends if you even want a roo, for protection? For chicks? For the heck of it? General rule, as Pop stated, 1 roo to 10 hens. You could have one roo to 20 hens and be fine, but fertility will be low.
