Roosters with hen coloring and vice versa?

Several years ago we had some Jaerhorns. We enjoyed them very much. We got some more this year. Several of them have me puzzled. We have two that have the black and gold feathering of the hens but they have giant rooster combs. Their combs are funny. They split in the back almost like a carnation comb. Then there are two that have the black and white feathering of roosters but they are hens. I know these are only hatchery birds ( from Ideal) so I do not expect them to be perfect, but this puzzles me. Any thoughts?

The Norwegian Jaerhorns are an auto sexing breed. Normally the hens are Black and brown and the roosters are white and black. http://www.feathersite.com/Poultry/CGD/Jaer/BRKJaerhone.html
