Roosting 12 inches and Drop Wire (litter)

Hi,

I'm so thankful for all I've learned on this site. Here are a few more questions.


1) Is 12 inches from the floor OK? We will have a small coop.

2) Does anyone have experience with a drop wire roost? What is best? Is there a real difference as to cleanliness, clean up?

12'' should be fine just remember they like to roost as high as they can... so if there is another perch higher than the roost you make for them then they may roost and litter at this higher point and not at your designated roost point.... and as for the wire i chose to use this method and i love it i collect probably 90% of my litter here yay!!!

sidenote my nest boxes are way too high in the pic they are now 12'' off the ground... and the trap door under the roost is how i access the litter
