Roosting board

Get anything (non-metal) that can bear a modest amount of weight and is long enough to go from one side of your coop to another. One popular choice is 2x4s turned with their broad side across. Another is sturdy dried branches.

It's not complicated. Imagine that chickens would naturally roost in trees or atop fences and simulate that.

Heres a picture of mine. Not the best but it's what I have on my phone right now. The 2 bottom pieces they just use as a ladder.

Not sure exactly what you are asking. Chickens usually like to sleep as high as they can get. They will sleep on about anything, a 2x4 on edge, a flat 2x4, a tree limb, storage shelf, just about anything. It's recommended to put the roosts higher than anything you don't want them sleeping on. Higher than the nests for example.

There are many different ways to attach them, depending on what you are using and attaching them to. I'll show how I attached my tree limbs but there are many different options.

Here's my roosting set up. A flat top surface works best, but a lot of things can work. Chickens, unlike parrots, like to sleep flat footed, not with their feet wrapped around the bar. The flat surface, like a 2x4, allows them to keep their feet warm on cold nights by sleeping on them. I have a poop hammock, instead of a poop board, but it's pretty much something underneath the roost bars to catch poop that's easy to clean.
