Roosting in the run instead of roosting in the coop

I think it's just big enough, but if it isn't, you'll know because they'll quit sleeping in it.

Regarding sunlight, can you just take the tarp off and see how much sun they get? As long as they have shade to turn to, you shouldn't need the tarp. If it's their only shade, then leave it. They will sunbathe if they want to.
 
Just an update. I upgraded their roosts in the coop and so far so good. I used 2x4’s and bolted them to the existing plastic bars. Before I did the upgrade the stayed outside the coop one time.
