Okay, I bought a Brown Leghorn baby chick from a local feed store and I asked her if it was a Rose Comb or Single Comb?. She didn't know. So my question is would I be able to tell which one it is know or do I have to wait untill she gets bigger? Because I was wanting one of each. And I don't want to raise one baby chick by itself if I have to wait? To me it looks like a single comb because it has those little spikes.

Thanks,
Andi

How old are we talking" baby Chick"?
You should be able to tell before too long, a week maybe.

The rose comb is a Dominique, The single is an Australorpe.
They have different color beaks but you can see the difference.

I have 2 of each of these breeds and the two chicks your looking at both had the more obvious comb of their breed.
The two not shown would have been much more difficult to determain the comb type of.

Both of these are pullets at around a week, More or less, Old.

You can tell depending on the bird.
FYI, both of the 2 shown Still have a more prominant comb then their counterparts.

Ok, Thanks! I really think mine is a Single Comb. I'll try to post a pic. and let you see what you think.
