I start at the perimeter and continue to till around it, moving into untilled ground with each pass until I reach the center. At that point, I again start at the perimeter only go in the opposite direction until I again reach the center. At that time, I call it good.Anybody do anything special or different when they till like a certain direction or pattern they like to do for a certain reason?
So in my mind does that like make a worrel pool effect with the soil? As far as mixing it?I start at the perimeter and continue to till around it, moving into untilled ground with each pass until I reach the center. My garden plot is a rectangle with the long side running east and west. The first pass breaks the soil up while the second pass mixes it better. So in my mind does that like make a worrel pool effect with the soil? As far as mixing it?
Alrighty thank youMy garden plot is a rectangle with the long side running east and west. The first pass breaks the soil up while the second pass mixes it better.
I till parallel to the slope of the land. We live in the mtns so everything is sloped. Tilling vertically will cause rainwater runoff to channelize and erode garden soil.Anybody do anything special or different when they till like a certain direction or patter they like to do for a certain reason?
I would do the same under the same conditions. I run my rows north and south because the garden is flat and the prevailing wind is from the west.I till parallel to the slope of the land. All row plantings are done in same format.
