This is my first time trying to incubate quail eggs. I got 4 dozen off a lady that said the were fertilized. I put them in this morning and by this afternoon had two pop open with the stench of gawd offeleness. At what point can I try and candle them to see what is happening. Hope she did not sell me 4 dozen rotten eggs.

Either they were cracked or very old. A lot of people say a lot about exploding rotten eggs but they shouldnt happen. Ive incubated many thousands of quail and ive only had a single rotten egg incident and the turning rack caused it. If youre using an accessory turner like a hovabator turning rack the rails can crack the eggs if theyre extra large.
