Rotten quail egg?

Any idea what rotten quail eggs look like? I’ve got a full incubator of 36 eggs on day two, and one of my golds looks pretty brown were some look almost white. Any idea what rotten eggs look like, or is it just variations in color?

Pull it out and give it a sniff you’ll be able to smell it if it’s bad or has a different odor from one that looks in better shape. If it is rotten handle it easy sometimes they’ll pop when shaken.

I was told they weren’t older than 3 days, although the golds came from someone else. It is just such a dramatic difference in color!

Can you get a clear picture of each type of egg?

And by a clear picture...I mean one like this while candling it. Notice how I'm blocking the light from shining around the egg.

It’s not the one specific egg that worries me at all, it’s pretty easy to tell if they are alive, I was more just wondering if the shell color could tell you anything so I don’t have to open the incubator and touch eggs

Are you judging color of outside of egg? If so, sometimes there is a glitch in laying cycle, and they don't get painted or they have a brown dull rough finish. Is that what you are talking about?

No outside shell will not show you if egg is rotten.

If the outside shell was brown when you got it, it is just the shell color.
