Our rott is about 7 years old he started getting ear infections 2 years ago. Vet gives him antibiotics but once those are used up bam he gets again. He has been on this cycle for a while now. I have tried hundreds of home remedies and nothing keeps it away. The vet is basically no help at this point two vets that is. I have even changed his food. Several times. Could an immunity supplement help? Any ideas?

Did your vet do a culture? If not, request that they do an ear swab/culture. It's possible a change in antibiotics would take care of it once they know exactly what they are dealing with. I suspect it's resistant to what your vet has been prescribing.

Does your dog swim much? I found keeping my dog out of a particular water source really helped cut back on the infections too. Most water was fine, but one canal she used to swim in had something that would cause her ear infections.

Yes nats they drive him crazy. No swimming. I even do my best to keep his ear dry. He is just hairy they did know what was in his ears bc the antibiotic work but after he is off them it comes back. I'm thinking g the next step might be to make him his own food. My other dog is a pitbull she has no ear problems at all. Same food. His ears are floppy and hairy inside.

Gnats can cause ear infections, treat him with a permethrin spray to keep them at bay
