I found this chick hatched at 5 am. It appears to have something dried and matting feathers and some fluff is missing only on one side. My incubator humidity dipped overnight and was at high 40’s but I’ve gotten it back up.
Was this chick shrink wrapped or is something else going on? 3 more have hatched this morning with no issues. I can’t take it out now because I have other eggs piped and zipping. Is there something I should do for it when I do take it out.

It looks a bit "crunchy" on that side - I've seen that with chicks that were a bit sticky, where goop dried onto their feathers. If it seems otherwise normal (active, etc.), I'd consider the issue cosmetic, and any goop should eventually work its way off. 🙂

I did just take it out a little bit ago. It was like dried egg white. It’s wing was stuck and I haven’t seen it lay down like the other chicks just prop its self on the eggs. I washed it off with warm water and dried it then put it back in the incubator. I was worried about the wing and if something was keeping its legs stuck so it couldn’t lay down. It is very active, I’m going to keep a close eye on it. What would cause so egg white like that.

Well now this happens. I have an egg with yolk under it. What could of caused this. I can’t take it out now because I have 2 zipping. I candled all the eggs before lockdown and I didn’t see any that looked rotten an non smelled. No odor from the incubator. Could this be caused by piping in the wrong end? I’m not sure what is up with this hatch.

Just saw this happen to someone else a few days ago. The chick pipped through its own yolk sac. Not sure how it turned out though 😥. So weird. Had never seen it until that one, and now it looks like possibly a second.

I’ve always been suspicious wether this NR 360 is turning these eggs correctly, sometimes it appears like they just slide. Could piping wrong be caused by improper turning?

It could possibly be improper turning. Turning the egg keeps the embryo from sticking to the wall of the shell. So if the chick is stuck in one place during hatching it may be pipping into the wrong area.

Yep that’s what happened. A chick just hatched so I opened real quick and took it out with me paper towel so the other chicks wouldn’t get it on them. The chick inside is not peeping.

I just got a new brinsea and have only planned to incubate in that and use this NR for hatching. Hopefully that is the reason. I’m not a newbie but I have only been incubating for a few years but never had these issues and then 2 in one hatch.

Don't beat yourself up. Hatches can be awesome or absolutely awful. Sometimes it's just the smallest detail or issue with the machine. Not your fault. Just make sure you scrub the bator good after this hatch. Yolk dries on really good to the trays. Hope everything else goes smoothly!
