Our first attempt did not go well, homemade incubator, started off with temps too high, got that sorted out and then some visiting friend's kids turned off the heat when looking at the eggs.........off all night and I did not realize until the morning, low 70's.....
Got the temps and humidity back up and after day 23 we had three hatch, one is fine, the second had to be helped out of the shell and has a gimpy leg and the third died..... the rest of the 24 eggs died when the heat was unplugged. I had a look at the contents of the eggs and embryo development confirmed this.
So after a rough start Ol' Yeller and Jo seem to be doing OK. Ol' Yeller needed help hatching, was stuck in the egg after piping, also hatched with a bum leg but is getting around and eating and drinking, Jo has done well right from the start and growing quickly, pretty sure he is a rooster from the attitude and the size of his comb..... wink emoticon Next batch due any day, hoping for better results.....
