I have a sick hen, Miss Bitey the Speckled Sussex.
She's gone lame in her right leg, breathing a little labored. She had a huge poop and it had a three inch long roundworm in it.
Any suggestions or recommendations for deworming for my girl?

For Roundworms, Valbazen Drench-wormer, or SafeGuard liquid goat dewormer are both effective, and easy to obtain in the U.S. The SafeGuard dose is 0.23ml per pound, once a day for five days - the valbazen dose is 0.08ml per pound once, then again in ten days. Early in the morning while the birds are still on the perch, pre-draw up each syringe, and gently, open each bird's mouth, either by pulling down their wattle, or pinching the corner of their beak, and put the syringe down the right side of their mouth, and press the plunger.

Intimate monitoring of the hen subsequent to administering the medication would be recommended, as blockages can sometimes occur with high worm loads.
