im just wondering if a daily routien for chickens is necessary or is it better to have no routien. Example: one morning out of coop and run to free range at 6am, the then next morning at 7am etc. Does that mess with them or is this 'no' routien better. They always have access to coop, food, water etc, but i just dont know if i should be consistant with the time lettting out, and locking up.. Thanks, and i cant believe i feel so insecure about some things like this...geesh!

If you let the girls out early one day, and not another, you're gonna be hearding them complaining. My girls have a routine as far as in and out of the coops. There aren't any feeding routines (treats ect.)

I do have a routine for my girls, usually when I get up in the morning, around 6 am, while making the coffee, feed the cats, check on water/food for the birds, release those that want out and head for the house to get a fresh cup of joe. About an hour later, I turn the hose on, clean all the water dishes with soap and water, fill those that need to be filled with water/grain, clean up "pearls" to floor off the top of nest box etc.

Only because I'm home all day, I go back out at lunchtime make sure everyone is in, and again just before dinner. Then at bedtime, make sure all waters are full, feed containers and a "bedtime shack" of 2 slices of breat, scratch or vegies.

So personally mine do have a schedule but its more of my schedule.
Hope it helps!
