I have 2 Royal palm Turkeys. We are building thier coop this weekend. I was wondering...am I building it big enough?? It will be 6ftx6ft, and 6ft tall. Thier run will be about 10x10 and covered. Will this be big anough for them to be comfortable? How high should we put the inside roost...and will they use it?? Never built for turkeys before, and I want Adam and Eve to be comfortable!

Hey,

I misread that article.....here is what I found after rereading.

"How much space is needed to house breeders ?

In confinement 6 - 8 square feet per bird

In mild climates with a shelter 4 to 5 square feet per bird and a yard of 150 square feet."

Kim.....I just read that as well. Sounds like I might have it set up ok. Whew! We decided to name the Turkey coop.....are ya ready for this??

justusnak, How old are your turkeys? We just got our first chickens this year, but my DD is already asking if we can have a turkey next year. Would it be ok to have just one hanging out with our hens? Would it matter if it was a boy or a girl? A tom wouldn't bother the hens would it?

BTW...the "poodle" chicken had a nice new home with other chickens that look just like her.....or just like she will look when her crest grows back.
