Royal Palm Jake feathers

I've got a RP jake whos feathers on his back around the tail seem to curl upwards when hes not all strutted out. Almost looks frizzled in this area. Has anyone seen anything like this before? Hes pretty except for that but I dont want it to be a trait passed on to his chicks if he were to breed my hens. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow if it is nice out.

ok heres a pic of him today. Finally got him to break out of strut!

notice how his back feathers toward the tail seem to curl up all the time.

Him strutting his stuff for everyone also

as he matures, they will grow into a semi-circle
that tail is the signature of the jake haha

I've got some like that, I think they never quite quit the strut altogether. Kindof keeping a head start on the display.
