I think I just hatched my first royal purple keet! It’s not completely fluffed up yet, but it doesn’t look like my pied pearls, so I hope I’m right and not just seeing what I want to see🤣
Highly suspected royal purple.. complwhite wings and hopefully squiggly lines on head.

Previous pied pearl for comparison.. white V shape on head with straight head lines. Top shoulders are colored and the rest of the wing is white.

I also hatched my first white guinea today! It is currently weak and had a rough hatch. I really hope it makes it!

Looks like a Royal Purple.

My first hatch is due from the 26th to the 28th. I put 85 more eggs in last night.
Yay! I’m glad to not be the only one who thinks so😆 Plus you’ve definitely seen more rp keets then I have😁

Awesome! How many in your first hatch?
I need to collect eggs tonight after lock up. One of my purple hens has been winning a game of hide and seek. I know she’s on a nest somewhere, but I have yet to find her. I don’t *think* anything has nabbed her, at least I’m hoping that’s not why I haven’t found her😞
A lavender hen has been trying to stay out too, but I found her nest. I have six nests that need emptying 🤦‍♀️

I have been hatching Royal Purple keets for 6 years and that is what they look like.

I set 40 eggs in the first batch. I won't candle them until day 25. With one more cock than last year, I am hoping for a better fertility rate.

I never let any of my hens stay out at night. I use a long stick which gets attacked viciously when I am getting them off of their hidden nests.

I hope the extra male makes a difference for you!

I don’t purposely let mine stay out either. I like everyone locked up at night. I just can’t figure out where that dang girl has gone. She was coming out in the morning to get in the coop to eat, but then vanished a couple days ago. No signs anywhere of an attack, so I’m trying to stay possible and look for her in new areas each day. The lavender stay out one night and I didn’t know it till morning(kids locked them up and didn’t count heads).
So she’s done with that. Lol I got bit by her when I tried to grab her. Then had to walk her to the coop. Ugh. These new guineas haven’t been as good about sticking to our routine. My pearls are the best about being in bed around the same time each day.

How beautiful your chick is 💓😍

Thanks! I’m so excited about it! Although, I’m not keeping it. My grand in law really wants royal purples. So I told her I’d give her any I hatched. She’s the person that got me into considering guineas in the first place, so I’m more then happy to give her any I hatch this year🤗

And.....lm over the moon excited this morning 😁 I found my royal purple hen that’s been sitting on a hidden nest for a week now! Yay! I was so excited to see her out this morning. It was for a moment and then she walked into a large stinging nettle patch. I ran and got covered head to toe and went out to look for her. Sure enough she is right in the middle of the massive nettle patch!
Since it’s been hot I’m wearing shorts and flip flops everyday, so I can only reach so far in this patch with my hearding stick to look for her. Turns out I just wasn’t reaching far enough in. Tonight she will join the others😁
And it’s a good thing I left some space in the incubator. I’ll collect her eggs and add any that have started developing.

Here is the naughty girl on her nest.

She made the kids and I chase her for almost half an hour before finally cooping her up.

47 eggs. 22 were visibly viable. 3 had blood rings. The other 22 were either yokers or just not incubated long enough to show growth. Only the 22 viable ones got put in the incubator.
