Rubber mulch?

I accidently bought rubber mulch at the store to cover a small gardening spot in my yard. My chickens free range all day. My question is, when they peck at the mulch will they be able to eat it? And hurt them? Or should I just return it?
They taste test everything so it's not a matter of IF but WHEN

Return it. Some animal ingesting small portions can pass it but birds can't.

I'd definitely rather be safe than sorry. Good thing I saved the receipt. Shopping with 4 kids tends to make me miss these things lol. Thanks!
