Laura, there are a few web sites out there that walk thru the regulations of having chickens as family members. I believe the coup must meet specifications 4sq ft per bird and have to be at least 4 feet from all property lines and absolutely no roosters. Or around about. There will always be one neighbor in every neighborhood that gripes about someones choices. As long as you know the regs and have your @#$ in order. You can always talk and prove your side to the enforcement people. I personally love chickens and free fresh eggs, but I don't like the smell plus I am allergic. BTW there is a mortem on roosters in Lakewood. My husband and I just acquired 4 chickens (Hens) this past Monday, we have a neighbor who is pretty disgruntled and called code enforcement on us, they are saying we can't have these chickens in our yard, we were just wondering if anyone has any ideas or knowledge of guidlines / rules/ regulations for the town of Lakewood , Colorado , any ideas or tips would help tremendously , as we would hate to part with them, they all already have nameswe have them clearly for egg laying, there is nothing like a fresh egg![]()
Help would greatly be appreciated
Laura
