run away hens

Got two new hens yesterday, put them in the barn in what I thought was a secured area but, when I went out to lock everyone in for the night they were no where to be found. Looked everywhere. Do chickens run away?

They will try to go home, and hadn't been at your home for long enough to think of it as home.

Found the girls safe and sound.They somehow found their way into the garage, and were roosting on husbands tool box,
