Hello all-
We're in the process of getting the run I want constructed and it's gonna be HUGE, lol...

I was wondering what you all do to connect the edges of two pieces of chicken wire. The hubby suggested cable ties, or zip strips as he calls them, but they're plastic and I worry a determined predator with sharp ol' teeth would make short work of them.
Thanks for any advice

I'll post pics when I get it all done.

I just intertwine the straight pieces (after cutting) with the loop part of the chicken wire. No other wire necessary really. Hopefully that makes sense.

Make sure you either double up the chicken wire with cloth wire or something as it is not strong enough to keep out determined predators.

Well, why didn't I think of that?

It makes sense, I know just what you mean.

I am going to make a run to Lowes in the AM to get a roll of wire mesh, I guess you would call it hardware cloth.

The run is going to have two separated areas with doors in between that can be open all the time or closed to keep some birds separate.

I have babies coming this Friday

, so I want to have everything done right for when we do give them outside time.

Thanks-

It's not exactly quick, but an effective way to join poultry netting edges is to "sew" them with a light guage wire. You don't have to go through each "hole", but just run a line of wire through overlapped edges (don't do it right on the edge). The end result is pretty darn strong and doesn't stand out too much.
