In this year, I’ve gone from 5 chickens to 7 chickens, so I think it’s time I installed a permanent winter proof run. My coop started as just the main area, then the roost was built, then the nesting box, then the A-frame. As a result, the coop is not so pretty with weird add-ons. The A-frame can easily be moved as it was supposed to be a run but it has served as a brooder and quarantine section, but is now overflow space to fit all the chickens. So, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas for a run? I know there are so many amazing builders on here so I can’t wait to see what awesome ideas people come up with!!

I can suggest all kind of run options,,,,,,,,,,,,, and many of those could be a considerable drain on your finances.
I am a person that likes to repurpose things, as well as save money. That does not translate to being cheap, but rather thrifty. I like to get a good value for the money I spend. (regardless the amount)
Here is my first glance suggestion. Try to get a dog kennel or two. Look for some on Craig's List, Reason for possibly 2, is,,,,,,, you appear to be handy with building things. You can combine two kennels into one larger one. This would give you more protected area in run. I also would suggest you do cover the overhead with tarps like you have on the A-frame. Keeps run dry, and shaded from sun. You would need to install some rafter supports for tarp, but that does not need to be very difficult/strong. I have multiple tarps covering my run area. If you need more advise on the tarps, just ask when you are ready to do.
A dog kennel also does provide good predator protection. That is why it is a good choice for a run.
I have many other thoughts, and views, so let me know which route you will be choosing.
WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome
