I put my run up today and when I hung the door something occured to me. How do you preditor proof the door? I have an apron burried 6 inches all the way around the run but how can I keep preditors from digging under the door? any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks.

See my BYC page for pictures on how I did mine.

I built a small section of fence about a foot high under the door for two reasons. To predator proof the door and so that the door is not blocked by snow in the winter. I then framed the door above it.

Aprons work under doors too

No need to bury it.

Just lay it flat and cover with enough dirt so grass can grow up through it

I'm in Florida, lots of sand - I like to make a little 'patio' under the door - dig down about 6", lay some stones, some bricks, and mortar the whole thing together. Usually for something like a door or a fence gate, I will make it 3 or 4 bricks wide. Hope that helps!

I poured a small concrete pad under mine, both sides. No digging in from outside and no dusting holes right in door(ankle twisters).

I attached the apron beneath the door, too. I also have locks at the corners, so no prying techniques, either!
