I'm building a run for two guineas. How big should it be to keep hem from pacing and struggling to get out-- or will they do that no matter what? They can't free range for several reasons.

They will always want out... lol, but the more room they have, the happier they will be. I suggest building it as big as you can, at least 8 feet long and just as wide if possible. A 10'x10' dog kennel (with a layer of chicken wire and or hardware cloth all around it for added predator security, and a top on it) would work great too. They'd also enjoy outside perches at different heights and a mirror that they can admire and amuse them selves with.

Thanks. I was thinking 4x 12 but I guess I'll have to go lots bigger. I let my little neurotic buzzard loose today and he hopped the 6 foot fence to try and get into the house. I opened the front door and he trotted right in. After putting him back in his pen (5x8) I've been trying to figure out a new plan.

IMO, a 4'x12' pen still has plenty of room, and should work fine for 2 Guineas. They will fully utilize the 12' length to pace back and forth and complain all day about being locked up, lol.

LOL... Neurotic buzzard?

Yup. Jeffrey looks like a buzzard and if there were therapists for guineas he'd be first in line. He was raised by an EE and I'm not sure if he thinks he's a chicken or thinks the chickens are guineas. He tries to spar with my rooster through the chicken wire( rooster comes out pretty bloody). He's madly in love with the rooster's favorite hen. She wants to keep it "just friends." He also thinks that because he was brooded in the house he should be able to live here permanently. He has other issues like claustrophobia, boy phobia, and obsessive maternal attachment. He's the Mr. Monk of the guinea world. I'm also pretty sure he's a vegetarian.

Sounds like the majority of the Guineas in my 3 flocks are related to your Jeffrey!
