Run Space

I need help, I keep getting back lash for the space in my chicken's run. I am planning on keeping 3 australorp chickens. They have a 6x6 run with another 6x3 attatched to it, having around 54 sq ft of space. They will not free range but occasionally will be let out with supervision. Is this actually cruel? I feel so bad, I've spent well over 1600 on this coop thinking they would be living great with it, but now I'm confused. Any advice without added negative commentary?

The coop part might be a little small especially in warm weather. In winter, if you live in a colder climate it might be cozy. It's hard the tell the actual size of the green part. But the run looks really nice!

They tend to all clump together no matter how much space they have.

I have no idea what this means. That makes it hard to address. I looked at your only other thread and did not see anything negative there.

You have more room than the magic numbers some people use. I don't know your coop size or what your winters will be like so I don't know everything but I don't see why you are getting negative comments.

If I knew what comments you were getting and from whom I might be able to reply but as it is I don't see the problem.

BYC isn't the only place I ask for advice, I made the account here because people on Facebook pages are rude.

I had Australorps. They are big birds. They aren't exceptionally active, but they take a lot of space. If you want them out of the run for periods of time without supervision, you could get portable electric netting.

People are people. You can find rude people that love to scare you on this forum as well as anywhere else. On a public forum and social media it is your job to sort it out. A thick skin can help. I've gotten better over the years at ignoring people that need to be ignored.
