Is a 20 x 6ft run a nice size

Do they get to free range at all? 120sg ft equals 12 chickens max for the run. 48sq ft coop is about the same, 12 chickens. 8-10 chickens would probably be better though.

They will free range so would 10 be better

As long as they will be free ranging for a while each day, 12 would still be acceptable. There are lots of other variables too, like size of breed, hen/rooster ratio, style of coop, etc. Everyone says the more room you have per chicken, the happier they will be.

I will use the run most of the time & free range now & again so will 10 birds be ok
