ok, so i recently got 10 new ducklings!! They are so cute. Anyways, i am no newbie to ducks...i've kept them for years. But this is my first year with runner ducks. The 10 i got were all different breeds, but i had 2 runners (blue and black). I heard somewhere that you should have at least 2 runners together in the flock, and well, no problem for me, that was great! now though, the blue just died. So i will have 1 black runner female alone with swedish (blue and black), cayugas, pekins, welsh harlequins, khaki campbells, rouens, hybrids, buffs, and cresties. will she be ok? or should i get another 1 or 2? thanks!!

I would see how it goes for a few days. Sad for your loss. Do you know what it was?

Our Runners were not real keen on the two new Buffs a few years ago - but I feel that is because they were not raised with other breeds. gentila has a mixed flock.

My runners are very outgoing but aren't completely buddy, buddy. Usually my blue hangs with the Cayuga and my fawn and white hangs with my welsh harlequin or white layer. If they are all raised together I think it would be fine. My Cayuga is a newer member and still my blue has taken to her.
