Runner duck behavior!

We had to put one of our dogs down a couple of days ago, her name was Jewels. We had 4 dogs now we have 3. Our 3 ducks were very attached to Jewels. Now when we let them out in the morning they seem very confused. They used to cuddle with her and follow her. Now they are attaching themselves to our border collie. The border collie gets a bit nervous with this, and is not a cuddler, but he puts up with it for the most part. They do cuddle a bit with our other big dog and hang out, but they still seem confused. Even when I am outside they quack a lot and look like they are searching for Jewels. Is it typical for Runners to not stop chattering? Is it because they are trying to figure out where their best friend is? Jewels was an outdoor dog, didn't like to come in. Our border collie stays in mostly, but our other big dog is out with them and the chickens to protect them, as they all free range. I worry that the ducks. How long will this last? They are about 3 months old. We are all heart broken over our loss.
