runner duck question

Congrats! But... I'm sorry to say this... just because she's gone broody doesn't mean she'll manage to raise a batch of babies. I raise runners, and the one time I had a broody (actually, two went broody at the same time), they both raised their eggs to about 21-22 days incubation and then began destroying them. I didn't realize it was them at first and I didn't have an incubator at that time, so I was not able to save the babies--lots of dead mostly-formed ducklings all over the pen one morning. Very, very sad.

But..... maybe yours will be different. I sure hope so! I don't plan to let mine brood again--too much trauma. I just use an incubator. And plan to get some cochins or other broody chicken, or muscovies, to use as natural brooders.

Good luck, though. I hope it works out!
