Runner Ducks - Cutting Food with Grains

With doing some reading about my Runner Ducks, I've come across an article stating they should be fed 1/2 wheat and 1/2 pellets.
Does anyone else do this? They will also be free ranging, but I do plan on giving what they need to fill up and what to give them the best diet.

Where does one find wheat? (I am new to owning poultry in general)
Does anyone else do this, but feed something other than wheat, or is any type of grain good?

Looks like a good source of info. I don't have Runners but I have mixed wheat into my flocks feed. They have bulk wheat at my feed store, caution last bag I bought had bugs and I of course didn't know till almost home when my car became over run with these tiny bugs. It can happen in regular feed to though so just be on the look out, feed store gave me my money back and I dump the bag of wheat.

Depending on where you are, there are grain mills, stores that sell bulk grains for people, even co-ops.
